Dr. Megan Schwalm

Dr. Megan Schwalm is the Executive Director of the Tennessee Respite Coalition. She holds a PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Iowa and has worked as a Diversity Consultant and Trainer for over a decade.  Dr. Schwalm has served as Executive Director of two nonprofits, both focused on serving clients with disabilities, and has served as a Community Organizer for Understood.org and the National Center for Learning Disabilities. Dr. Schwalm worked at the University of Iowa as a Diversity Resources Coordinator and held Adjunct Faculty positions at Brown Mackie College and the University of Iowa. In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time with her partner and four children, traveling, hiking, and reading.


Mandy Hansen

Mandy Hansen is the Senior Companion Program Director for the Tennessee Respite Coalition. She has directly supervised the work of the Senior Companion Program over the past eight years. She proudly serves the Corporation for National and Community Service: Americorps Seniors. Presenting monthly in-service trainings led her to discover information on the Music and Memory Program. After receiving a grant awarding the certification and tools, she was the first in Tennessee to implement the program into the homes of the TRC clients through the SCP Volunteers.

Mandy also leads the work of our development team and fundraising events. She proudly created the “Beer and Cheese” annual fundraising event from the ground up which has been extremely successful over the past 8 years.


Jack Read

Respite Voucher Program Coordinator

Jack Read is the Respite Voucher Program Coordinator with Tennessee Respite Coalition. Before coming to the TRC, Jack worked in homeless services, re-entry, and literacy intervention. He is also an educator and a theatre artist, and is currently on the Board of Directors with Poverty and the Arts, where he serves on the Development and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committees. He has lived in North Carolina, Rhode Island, the District of Columbia, and now Tennessee. His passions include making playlists, collaborating with others, and spoiling his dog.


Sara Lyons

Sara Lyons is the Program Assistant for the Tennessee Respite Coalition. Prior to working at the TRC, Sara worked with the American Cancer Society at the Nashville Hope Lodge, and volunteered with Relay for Life. In her spare time, Sara enjoys drawing, hiking, swimming, and traveling.
